so this is a multi-layered CDJ piece built around a CD of sci-fi/adventure music i found - 2001 and Raiders of the Lost Ark and Star Wars etc - all performed in like 14 live improvisations, one layer after another, mostly with that CD but also with a crackly old "horror sfx" CD, and a pinch of freejazz just to hold it all together.

so then i was thinking about calling it "STAR BEAST" which was the original title of what became "Alien" - and then i thought about the xenomorphs as like a metaphor for plunderphonic artists - kinda bursting out of their hosts ("culture") as weird deformed versions of their hosts ("plunderphonic remixes"), taking matter and metamatter and rearranging it into new alien forms. so the whole album is also sort of a metaphor for the act of remixing / plunderphonics. the bastard children are recognisable, but bizarre... and then of course that made me think about how we are all biological sampling machines ourselves, made of remixed stardust, absorbing matter and remixing it into our own cells, remixing oxygen into energy, remixing the words we hear and creating new sentences, etc etc - WE ARE THE STAR BEAST! LIVING GOLEM OF STARDUST! TAKER OF METAMATTER AND CREATOR OF NEW WORLDS! etc"
