"Laura Mars (Laura Maria Mares, born 2001, lives in Berlin) is new to music, but loves singing and making sounds with her laptop. 'songs of longing' - her first album - is a collection of songs produced during summer/autum 2023: reworked/stretched vocal improvisations by her, some samples from freesound.org, vst synth improvisations and sound-mangling. each sonf tries to interprete the mood of longing/love/sadness - soundscapes echoing themselves, repeating patterns and chords.
Laura loves the work of singers like Meredith Monk, Diamanda Galas or Lisa Gerrard, but is also into ethnic chants and overtone singing, even neo-classical or vaporwave.
